We were grateful to have the opportunity to scrimmage highly competitive GVSU before both of our teams traveled to Philadelphia for the Dad Vail Regatta. Our sprint work and 1500 meter pieces went incredibly well, and it was exciting to put our friendly rivalry to the test.

Since the MACRA regional championships were cancelled due to poor water conditions at Eagle Creek, we rowers spent the weekend at our home course on O’Shaughnessy Reservoir.
We certainly wish that we could have been competing, but extra coaching and plenty of additional volume on the water only improved our performance. We feel ready for the challenge of Dad Vail!

OSU Crew hosted the annual dual against Michigan State at home in Columbus this year. This year especially, States Cup provided two up-and-coming teams with an excellent opportunity to test their progress. The UD women’s team and Cincinnati’s men and women joined in the racing to provide an even more competitive field. Congratulations to the women’s lightweight 4+, the men’s novice 4+, and the women’s novice 4+ on their first place finishes!

A huge congratulations goes to Ohio State’s novice women’s 8+ for their first place finish in the grand finals at SIRA. The women took on impressive teams like Texas, Rollins, Washington University, Vanderbilt, Nova, Georgia Tech, and LSU in their fight to the medals dock. The men’s novice 4+ also rowed incredibly well and finished grand finals in a close third place position after fending off crews from schools like Miami, Georgia Tech, Emory, Purdue, Clemson, William and Mary, and Tennessee. The future of the team is certainly looking bright! Unfortunately for the men’s and women’s 1V8s, C-level semifinals and finals were cancelled after inclement weather on Saturday delayed the racing schedule by three hours.

Following severe storms–and a long two hour weather delay–on Purdual morning, the skies cleared and we were blessed with some of the nicest conditions we’ve ever had at Eagle Creek. The men’s varsity fours, the women’s varsity fours, and the men’s and women’s novice fours all gave outstanding performances against Purdue. The bar has certainly been set high for the rest of the season! Many, many thanks to the families who withstood the rain, schedule changes, and uncertainty to feed hungry rowers and shout OH-IO!
