Are you competitive and looking to pick up a new sport? Come to the Drake Boathouse located in the basement of the Drake Union Theatre at 1849 Cannon Drive. Practice times are at 6 am and 8 am, or contact a coach for availability throughout the day.

Cincinnati and Dayton Regatta 11/12/11

Universities of Cinicinnati and Dayton ventured to O’Shaughnessey for a 3.6k race with Novice racing in a head race fashion and Varsity rowing side by side. All squads performed well in the windy conditions with victories coming from the Men’s Novice 4+ and Men’s Varsity 4+.

Head of the Hooch 11/5/11

Ohio State Crew brought the whole team down to Chattanooga, TN for the Head of the Hooch Regatta. The novice had a strong showing in their first race with the Men’s Novice 8+ coming in 5th out of 39 teams, Men’s Novice 4+ coming in 7th, an strong performances from the novice women against a number of funded programs. Both Varsity squads performed well with the women placing 7th in the Club 8+ and the Men 13th in the Championship 8+ along with Men’s Club 4 finishing 9th out of 38. The day of racing was capped off the Men’s Championship 4+, composed of Adam Reckless, Josh Taub, Colin Richards, Erik Meister and Julie Stehli, earning a Bronze medal in a very competitive race being only 2.5 seconds off of 1st place.

Recruitment Information Sessions: Wednesday September 21st at 7:00pm
Thursday September 22nd at 7:00pm
Friday September 23rd at 7:00pm
Monday September 26th at 7:00pm

All Sessions will be held at The Drake (in between the towers on the river) in the Boathouse on the ground floor.

We were grateful to have the opportunity to scrimmage highly competitive GVSU before both of our teams traveled to Philadelphia for the Dad Vail Regatta. Our sprint work and 1500 meter pieces went incredibly well, and it was exciting to put our friendly rivalry to the test.

MACRA Regional Championships Cancelled (4/30/2011)

Since the MACRA regional championships were cancelled due to poor water conditions at Eagle Creek, we rowers spent the weekend at our home course on O’Shaughnessy Reservoir.

We certainly wish that we could have been competing, but extra coaching and plenty of additional volume on the water only improved our performance. We feel ready for the challenge of Dad Vail!
